Yankee Candle - Market Blossoms | Candle Review

Monday, November 21, 2016

Today, I am reviewing Market Blossoms from Yankee Candle.  This is an online exclusive scent that I purchased directly from the brand's website during a promotion.

Official Scent Description: A wonderful gathering of scents straight from a morning at the farmer's market—fresh, happy blossoms and ripe berries bursting with flavor.

Fragrance Notes:
Top: Bergamot, Strawberry, Raspberry
Mid: Muguet, Apple, Mandarin Blossom
Dry: Sandalwood, White Patchouli, Vanilla

:Initial Thoughts:

My name is Jennifer and I hate floral scents.  They give me a headache, remind me of the overpowering perfume counters at the mall, and never live up to the actual flowers in my garden.

So, why on earth did I buy this scent that literally has "blossoms" in the title?  I like pain.  I was a sucker for the gorgeous picture on the front.  Incredibly shallow, but it's the truth nonetheless.

As for the Yankee Candle brand, I have mixed feelings about it.  I first purchased from this brand last year, in 2015, and got a ton of duds and underwhelming candles. In fact, I gave most of them away.

For some reason, demonic possession probably, I decided to order from their official website again a couple months ago.   Fortunately, every candle that I've burned from that order so far has been great.

:Cold Impression:

It's a very sweet, subtle floral with a hint of a mature fragrance in the far distance behind it.  It's pleasantly surprising, because it isn't a straight floral.  It really does make me think of a farmer's market as well that would have fruits, flowers, and other items.

:Stats :

What: 22oz single wick

From Where: Online from the brand's official site

Pour Year: 2016

How Much: $27.99 (full retail), but there are often promotions

Duration: I didn't log the specifics, but it felt like it lasted forever. Yankee states 110-150 hours for this style of candle.

Burn: It burned pretty well.  There was a little more soot than I would have liked.  The wick would also mushroom pretty badly at times.  Overall, I'm okay with the burn as it wasn't overly fussy, but it could have been better.

Throw:  One reason I don't like floral scents is because they give me headaches if they are too strong.  This one was just right.  It was strong enough to be a dominant presence in the air, but it wasn't obnoxious.  It was also very consistent.

The scent, itself, was true to cold and just wonderful.  It managed to freshen the air, as well as, have a fun sweet note around it.  I'm really surprised with how much I liked it.

Final Thoughts:

I honestly never intended on reviewing this candle.  Thus, I never took down the burn time and why my title pic is of an empty candle. I expected it to be awful or nothing special, because I hate florals and I've had dodgy results from this brand in the past.

It was anything but; it was wonderful!  I enjoyed every minute of it.

Would I Repurchase this Candle?

Absolutely!  This was one of the best candles I've burnt in awhile.  It even makes me rethink my hatred of floral scents.

I bought this with my very own dollars even though I probably shouldn't have. :P
