Collage Art Journal Spread: Queen | Junk Journal

Monday, August 15, 2016

I had a super stressful day at work last week.  So, that means it was time to put everything else aside and make another collage journal spread. It seems to be the best thing I've found to reset my nerves.  (And it doesn't cost much of anything.)

I decided to do this spread in the book that I made awhile back.  It was the first time I attempted coptic stitch binding.  I made the covers out of cardboard and duct tape.  The interior is manila file folders that I bought at Dollar Tree.

I had a small stack of magazine pages sitting on my desk that I was too lazy to put up.  (Ain't nobody got time to drag all those boxes out for a few pages.)

So, I thought I'd see what I could make out of them.  It reminds me of a poster for a sci fi show or something.  I don't know it gives me that vibe.  It's like the blonde lady is one of the main characters or something.  I see sci fi (or is it syfy? Blech) or fantasy in everything.  Haha.

I've found that very chaotic backgrounds please my eyes the most.  I loved distressing that pretty water fall with some alcohol sprays and paint smudges.  The messier and scattered it is, the better.  I think if I had to leave white space, I'd shiver up and die.

I don't own any rights to the images from the magazine pages used in this tutorial.  I just used them for transformative and personal craft and DIY purposes.  (It sure beats them going in a trash bin somewhere, am I right?)
