Wet n Wild Silver Lake LE Collection: Swatches and Reviews

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

I was so happy to spot this entire collection when I went to Kmart the other day, because it is amazing!  I cannot believe these polishes are only $1.99 each.  There isn't a dud in the bunch.

If you've been with this blog awhile, you may remember that I swatched and reviewed last year's limited edition Megalast collection as well.  (Blog Post Here)  This one is leagues better.  Just, yes, yes, yes!

Live swatch video live on my Youtube channel as well:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0cSQrvTxEs

Larger individual swatch pictures and reviews below:

Wet n Wild Megalast - A Latte Love

This is 2 coats with no top coat under a soft lit day light bulb.

The formula on this one was great. I am also in love with the color.  This is one of my favorites of the collection for sure, because it is so rare to find a color this light that isn't streaky or needs a million coats.

Wet n Wild Megalast - Reject the Mainstream

This is 2 coats without a top coat under a soft day light bulb.

Excuse where I banged my ring finger while getting the camera out.  Haha!  It happens to the best of us.  This one also had a great formula.  It was just a hair thicker that the previous polish, but it was still very manageable.  It's just a perfect purple for Spring.

Wet n Wild Megalast - Warm Filter

This is 2 coats without a top coat under a soft day light bulb.

This one had a slightly thicker formula than any other in the collection, but it wasn't hard to work with.  This one is probably my least favorite just because of preference.  I'm not into oranges and corals.  It will definitely be fun to use for some floral nail art, though.  It is very fun and vibrant.

Wet n Wild Megalast - Stream of Consciousness

This is 3 coats without a top coat under a day light bulb.

This one is the most sheer of the collection.  I don't know that you would ever get it completely opaque enough to hide your nail line.

I absolutely love the look it gives my nails!  It is very pretty and classic, almost like a French manicure or something.  I think this will definitely be my new job interview polish.

The formula is also fantastic.  It went on like butt-ah!

Wet n Wild Megalast - Wear Skinny Jeans

This is 2 coats without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

The formula for this one was great.  It went on great!  The color is so bright and shiny even without a top coat.  Love it!

Wet n Wild Megalast - Tree Hugger

This is 2 coats without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

This is my favorite of the collection.  It is just so gorgeous to my eye!  (I actually have it on my nails as I type this.  Haha!)

The formula is excellent and it wears well.  I've had it on for more than 3 days now and not one chip.  It is just fabulous!

Dollar Tree Haul: White Rain Boutique Collection Reviews and More!

Friday, March 27, 2015

The clouds parted.  Light rays shone down.  The planets must have perfectly aligned as well, because I finally have a decent Dollar Tree haul.  Let's just take minute...

Seriously, though, my stores have been so bad since back before holidays.  They seem to finally be getting some new stuff.  So, let's just get right into it before my excitement makes me light clean off this chair.

Fiber Optic Suction Cup Butterflies and Dragonfly

What can I say?  These were pretty, multi-colored, and SHINY!  I had to have them.  They look so cool lit up at night.  I hope they last awhile. Though, it looks like you can open the bottom with a precision screwdriver and put another flat, circular battery in there.

Healthy Max Dog Treats

I had seen someone post about these treats on the Facebook Dollar Tree group.  She even took them to her vet, and the vet said they were good.  They are also made in the USA which is always surprising with Dollar Store products.  That's all fine and good, but my dog is picky.  So, it really comes down to if he would even eat them.

I have fed him a few of the Hip and Joint ones so far, and he seems to like them.  Victory!  Y'all don't even know how much of a pain he is with food and treats sometimes.  Haha!  The only thing I will say is that the pieces are quite small.  They are the same size as the Nutro treats or a little smaller than the Canine Carry Outs square treats.

Paw Print Container

I love these things!  I was so glad when I saw that Dollar Tree brought them back again for Spring.  They are just so cute and surprisingly functional.

Wood Craft Wood Wick Candles

Scents, left to right: Garden Violets, Paradise Spa, Crackling Fire, Vanilla Sugar

The scents are really strong on cold sniff.  I was pleasantly surprised.

So far, I've only burned Garden Violets.  The scent, after burning for 2 hours, only threw about 2 feet maximum.  I also had a lot of trouble keeping it from burning itself out.  It was fine the first 3 hours of burning, but then the flame became really weak.

It also does do a pitiful little crackling noise every once in awhile that is neat.  It did it pretty often when I first lit it, but it doesn't really do it anymore.

It does perform better than the Luminessence candles from Fall and Winter.  It's a great desk candle, but it wouldn't do for home fragrance purposes.

I will say that you seem to get a lot of burn time out of them.  I've had this one going for almost 10 hours, and it's only a third of the way gone.  The flame is really dinky and struggling.  So, that may be a factor as well.

UPDATE:  About 6 hours after I wrote this post, the flame came back to life, and it's crackling.  There isn't an improvement in the scent throw.  I have to be standing over it to smell it.

UPDATE #2: Started burning Paradise Spa and it has double the throw of the Garden Violets.  The throw is a bit soft, but it does feel up my whole 10x10 room back here.  I'm even a bet impressed.  Hmmm...

Pink Flower Wind Chime

I just thought this was so cute.  I don't think it would hold up to outdoor use, at least in my area.  I got it for an indoor window decoration so I didn't mind.  The metal is seriously thin!

White Rain Boutique Collection
  • Facial Cleanser & Make Up Remover:
    • I have used this one 4 times so far.  It has a clean, soapy smell.  The formula itself is clear and suds up mildly.  I don't have any complaints about it.  It's nothing spectacular, but it does the job.  I think out of all the Dollar Tree facial cleansers that I've used, this is the best one.  It's just nothing to turn flips over.  I also can't speak to the make-up removal aspect, because I don't wear it.
  • Moisturizing Shower Gel:
    • I have used this 3 times, and it has been quite an experience!  It is a clear formula and suds up very well, but it has an interesting effect.  As you start washing, it starts giving off a medicinal smell akin to Vicks Vapor Rub.  It was like my shower turned into a cough drop.  It wasn't unpleasant.  It was just unexpected.  It also gave a slight tingle effect on my skin.  I could see how that would be really great for an early morning shower.  It also left my skin feeling quite nice.  It's a winner.  Unfortunately, the amount of product, only 4oz, for the price isn't good, truth be told.
  • Shea Butter Body Lotion:
    • I have used this one 5 times so far.  I think it is pretty good for the price point.  It has a nice, clean lotion smell.  It absorbs pretty quickly.  I put it on the same level as the Suave lotions which are at about the same price per ounce.
  • Gentle Facial Scrub:
    • I have used this one 3 times so far.  This is definitely, what I would call, the dud of the bunch.  It has very few exfoliating pieces, even for a daily scrub.  They are also very large and did practically nothing no matter how much I rubbed.  I even put it on my face liberally and let it set for 5 min before I started rubbing it.  It still did nothing to exfoliate.  It also left my skin pretty stripped of moisture to the point it become really itchy on the sides of my cheeks.  I will definitely never buy this one again.
  • Daily Foot & Heal Cream:
    • I have used this one 5 times so far.  This one isn't bad, but it is definitely not a heel cream.  It does a fabulous job of moisturizing the more "human" parts of my feet, but it doesn't do much to my dry, cracking heels.  (In fact, I heard them laugh at it.)  The formula is pretty thin, but it did make the main parts of my feet very soft after I applied it and put cotton socks on.  I recommend using the Assured Cocoa Butter Jelly Lotion from Dollar Tree for the problem areas of your feet that need extra love, and then use this for the rest.  I've been doing it for a few nights, and it's been great.

LA Colors Color Craze - Sassy Sparkles
LA Colors Color Craze - Flurry
Milani - Fuchsia Fierce
Milani - Neon Dude Blue

No one is surprised that I bought polish.  I haven't worn any yet, and I haven't gotten my dang swatch sticks yet.  So, I can't speak to the formula and whatnot at this time.

Owl Lip Balms

I have been hunting for these for quite a bit for a friend mail package I am putting together.  I was so happy to find them in a random display at the very bottom of the checkout shelf.  They also had elephants, monkeys, and something else.  The owls were definitely the cutest!

Brillo Basics Erase & Wipe

These are okay.  I would rather have the scrubber and magic eraser separate.  I now know that I have a preference.  Haha!  One dollar each is not a good price for these.  If you use these a lot, I recommend looking on Amazon or something for bulk packages.

Mister Plumber

I used to use this way back when I moved into my first downtown apartment in the city.  (WAY back Haha!)  It seemed to work pretty well at the time.  So, I figured we would give this a shot before pursuing a more expensive one.

50pk 4 gallon Trash Bags

I really wish Big Lots would bring back their 250 packs for $1.50.  It was a way better deal.  Until then, I'll buy these.  It's getting harder and harder to find 4 gallon trash bags.

Stor It Cover-ups

These are a staple in our house.  They are basically little saran wrap bonnets to wrap over your leftovers before you put them in the fridge.  They are great.  I just wish they were sturdier so I could reuse them more.  I hate having that much waste.

LA's Totally Awesome Fabric Refresher in Extra Strength

I finally found this variety!  Everyone and their 2nd cousin has been telling me that this particular one is the one to buy.  Well, I will say that out of the 3 LA's Totally Awesome ones that I've purchased, this one is the best.  But...

It doesn't come anywhere near the name brand.  I went out and bought some of the name brand Febreze just to see if I was remembering it more fondly than it is in reality.  No, it's still awesome.  I sprayed it on my bed last night and it still smelled great this morning.

As for this one, I sprayed it on my bed and the scent lasted about an hour.  It was also quite faint.  I had to put my nose about a foot from it to smell it.  It did do way better than the others, though, by far.

Microfiber Dish Mat

These are not as thick as the ones you find for $3-$5 at Big Lots, Kmart, and other places.  They do the job pretty well.  I like that they fold up neatly.  You really can't beat it for a dollar.

The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People.  Make That Ten.  The Tweets of Steve Martin

What better thing to read on the toilet than Steve Martin tweets?  He's a hilarious dude.

Other Kingdoms by Richard Matheson

This is a historical paranormal fantasy-type novel as best as I can tell.  So, I'm game.  :)

Couture Patterned Tape

I almost wish that I hadn't have bought this and took that money and bought washi tape instead.  This stuff, while pretty, is basically really cheap scotch tape that hardly sticks.  The patterns are very nice, though.

Assorted Pens

I am forever surprised at the selection of pens that the Dollar Tree gets.  Most of them are quite decent as well.  Just be careful.  I thought I was buying all multi-colored pens, and I ended up with one all black ink.  Still all good to me, but it can be hard to tell sometimes.

Sassy + Chic Manicure-Pedicure Tool Set

This set comes with a floral patterned file, clippers, and even a set of angled tweezers.  How cute!

Micro USB Cable

I have been impressed with the Dollar Tree electronics cables so far.  (Which is way more than I can say for the headphones...ugh)  I bought a micro-USB flat corded cable a few months ago, and it's still going strong.  I hadn't seen them at my stores for quite awhile.  So, I had to pick another up when I finally saw some.

Stickers, stickers, stickers!!!! :D

Empties Reviews: February - Mid-March 2015

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

I like and continue to do these reviews, because I think they tell much more than first impressions.  You get to know someone's opinion after they experience the whole life of the product.  Goodness knows, I never shy away from giving an opinion.  Haha!

Video will also be up on my Youtube Channel, Spake With Twang, later today.

So, here's all my beauty trash for the last month and a half with reviews on each product.

Face Products

Freeman - Facial Purifying Clay Mask with Acai

This product is great.  I have no complaints about the mask itself.  It seemed to clean out my pores well, and it left my face very smooth and even toned.

What I am beyond unhappy about is the packaging!  I don't think it shows up well enough in the picture to really show the extent of the problem.  The packaging just started cracking apart.  I only got to use it 4 times or so, and now it is dried up and useless.  I really didn't want to pay $4 for only 4 uses.

It should be noted that I have other Freeman masks that I have had for months, and none of those have done this.  I won't repurchase this one unless it is in a different packaging.

Donginbi - Red Ginseng Aqua Oil & Aqua Pack Essence

I got these in a Memebox that I ordered months ago.  (It was the Oriental Medicine box.)  These are in the 5ml deluxe sample sizes.

I was really excited about these, because the card that came with the box valued the full size of these at almost $100 a piece.

These were amazing!  It really helped with my dry skin, uneven tone, and just over all appearance of my skin.  I just wish I had a bigger size!

If I am ever richer or around South Korea, I would purchase the crap out of these!  :)

Dewy Tree - White Dew 7Cut Extreme Serum

This is another product that I received in a Memebox.  (I believe it was the skin care box.  It's been a few months since I went Memebox crazy.)

This serum was fantastic as well.  It really evened my tone and was pretty moisturizing.  I can't really speak to the "whitening" effect, because I am freakishly pale to begin with.  I did notice a couple of my dark spots fade, but it was quite minimal.

Yes to Tomatoes - Daily Balancing Moisturizer

I actually bought this on a whim when I was making an online order for this company for some other products, and I needed a few extra bucks to get to a promo amount.  I was weary, because I don't have problems with break outs or anything like that.

I am so glad I tried this!   It is amazing!  If you have super dry skin, like I do in the winter, this is a life saver.  It would also be a good night cream for people with normal to combo skin as well.

It makes my skin so moisturized and soft.  I could seriously go on forever.  It is one of the most moisturizing daily creams that I have found.

I will forever repurchase unless they reformulate it and mess it up or something.  Haha!

WithMe - White Perfection Marin Silk Formula Foaming Cleanser

This is another product that I got in a Memebox.  (I actually did a review and unboxing post of it: HERE.)

I really loved this stuff.  It was so creamy and not drying at all.  I tried to make it last as long as I could.  (I succeeded since I got it in August.  Haha!)  It was just a dream!

This is another one of those whitening products.  I just can't tell if it did that or not.  Like I said before, I am a pale, pale lady.

If you do have a darker complexion or are someone that tans, it is something you should be aware of if you are buying Asian skincare products.  Some are known to have whitening or even bleaching effects.  My friend, who is super tan, noticed that her tan faded on her face a lot when using some of the "white" products in a memebox that she bought.

If I ever found this again, for the right price, I would totally buy it again.

Hair Products

Suave Professionals - Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner

I love the green bottle line from Suave Professionals.  I love the mint one that best, but this one is great, too.  The scent is nothing special, but it isn't unpleasant in anyway.

It was pretty moisturizing as well. I have pretty dry hair, and this one does well on non-shampoo days or on days where I do a treatment.  I would put it in the middle of the spectrum.

Basically, I enjoyed it.  It wasn't spectacular, but for the price point I would repurchase.

Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle in Moist

Can y'all hear those angels singing?  Can you see the light rays?

I was skeptical, because I have seen this stuff hyped up quite a bit around the web.  The hype is warranted!  It is amazing!!!

I used this in the place of my conditioner on shampoo days a couple times a week.  It made my hair so sleek, soft, shiny, and extremely manageable.  It was definitely a hair miracle in a bottle.

The really telling thing was when I was uploading videos after using in on my Youtube channel, I got a lot of comments saying that my hair looked great and whatever I was doing with it was working.  The only thing I had changed is that I added this to my hair routine.

I will forever buy this stuff.  Once another coupon deal comes up, I will be that crazy lady with a buggy full.  Haha!

Herbal Essences - Hydralicious & De-Damage Boost Shampoo

This was my first time trying this line of shampoos, and it was great!  It really lived up to its name of Hydralicious.  (Though, I think that is a really stupid name.  Truth be told.)

It was the first shampoo that I can recall using that didn't dry my hair out at all.  My hair actually felt smoother and more moisturized after shampooing.  Sorcery!  It also smelled like berries.  Yes...

I would totally repurchase this.  It was fabulous.  I would even dare to say that it was one of the best shampoos I've ever used on this old mop.

L'Oreal Advanced Hair Care - Total Extreme Repair Shampoo

I don't really know what to say about this shampoo.  It just wasn't memorable.  It worked great.  There was nothing bad about it.  It was pretty much unscented.  It just didn't stick in my mind.  It didn't do anything above and beyond, but it didn't suck.

I would buy it if it coupon'ed down again, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Body Products

Fortune Cookie Soap - Whipped Cream Body Butter in Jello Surprise

I received this in my Winter Fortune Cookie Soap Box (unboxing post: HERE).  I have been buying from FCS for over a year now, and the whipped cream used to be one of my favorite all time products.  The formula on this one was just not up to par with the others that I have.

I would put this one on, and it would never rub in.  I would rub for 5 minutes, and my hand would still have a white film on it.  It also had chunks of stuff in it.  I would have to take a towel and just wipe it off.  It was just really disappointing and needs to go in the trash.

Pure Smile - Snail Honey Hand Cream

I got this in a Memebox, I told y'all I went nuts, a few month back.  (Unboxing and review post: HERE).

This was the hand cream that all hand creams should aspire to be!!!  I was so sad when I finally used it up.  I tried to hold out as long as possible.  Argh!

It wasn't greasy at all, but it gave my hands a smooth and glowing appearance.  I also rubbed it into my cuticles quite a lot and it worked wonders.  I wish I had 5 more.

If I ever come across it again, for the right price, I will buy it without question!

Soft Soap - Spa Radiant Body Wash

This body wash was okay, but nothing special.  It smelled like soap.  I would probably never repurchase it just because I freakin' hate the bottle.  Yes, freakin' hate!

You know when you get close to running out, and you turn the bottle upside down so you can get the product out?  Well...this bottle is rounded at the top.  It was so annoying.  I know that is nit-picky, but there are 9,000 other body washes out there with flat tops.

No, I would not repurchase.

Bath & Body Works - Triple Moisture Body Cream in Carried Away

If you are familiar with my past Empties, I always have at least one of these boogers in here.  I mow through lotion like crazy.

I really like the formula of the triple moisture body creams.  They do the job.  Even better, they rub into the skin very quickly.  The only downside is that they only have a shelf life of about 6-8 months.

This scent, Carried Away, is pretty good.  I actually hated it in the bottle, but it smelled alright on me.  I would repurchase if the price was right.  It wasn't too strong, but it still lingered awhile.

Scentations? - Hand Cream With Shea

I received this in a prize mail package from the fabulous Niecy Parham on Youtube.  I put a question mark after the brand name, because that is what it says on there.  The problem is when I google it, there is none to be found.  It does says limited edition for Kohl's store on it.

Now, this is one of the best hand creams that I have used in my life.  I didn't expect it.  It worked even better than my Aveeno hand cream.  I mean, what?  It had no scent, but it was creamy, zero percent greasy, and moisturized my hands to the max.  I was so sad to use it up.

If I ever came upon it again, I would buy the ever-loving beast out of it.

Misc Products

Glitter Guilty - Polish Mini in Cupid's Crossbow

Glitter Guilty was actually the first subscription service I ever did.  You got a full size and a mini from her indie polish line every month.  Unfortunately, this little mini is just completely dried up.  I don't think any amount of polish thinner can save it.  I'm not a big fan of chunky glitters anyway.  So, I'm not too torn up about it.

Blistex - Orange Mango Blast

I received this in a friend swap package from the fabulous Becky Crawford on youtube.  I almost didn't try this one, because I am not a fan of mango flavour.  (It tastes too close to peach.  Haha!)

I'm glad I did, though.  It was amazing!  I had really chapped lips, and this whipped them right into shape.

I would totally repurchase Blistex products.  I have great luck with them.

Up & Up - Nail Polish Remover in Strengthening Formula

This stuff is the bane of my existence!!!  I have been using these up for months, because I got a bunch on a couponing deal at Target.

Let me say that: These are the worst nail polish removers that I have ever come across by far!

I will put it another way.  My gentle formula non-acetone remover, that I try to use as much as possible, works twice as well as this garbage.

This stuff just smears your polish everywhere.  I would have a better shot using water to remove my polish.  Save your money!

No, I would not repurchase.  I wouldn't even take it for money.  No, no, no!

Nature's Bounty - Biotin 5000mcg

Let me preface this by saying:  I am not a medical anything.  Don't take this as medical advice.  This is my experience.  Do your own research.

That being said, I've been taking Biotin once a day for almost a year now with great results.  My nails grow faster, are thicker, and don't peel very often anymore.  My hair is thicker and just better over all.  My skin has also improved quite a lot.

I took a couple of months to build up in my system, but I can definitely tell the difference.  So far, so good.  My only disclaimer would be that it doesn't discriminate.  That means that the hair on your head grows faster, but your hair everywhere else will, too.  Haha!  :)

Swatch It Out: Random Polish Swatches #1

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

I'm excited to bring y'all a new series that I am doing both here and on my Youtube Channel called:  Swatch It Out.  (Video will be embedded at the bottom of this post once live as well.)

For each one of these segments, I'll be picking 7 random polishes from my collection, which ranges from $1 retail polishes to salon and indie brands, and doing still photo and live swatches.

I had been wanting to do something similar to this for a long time, but I hadn't had the time nor set up to properly do it.  I've run across a lot of the popular nail polish vloggers doing live swatches, and I just thought it was so neat.  Though, I could watch someone paint their nails all day long.  Haha!

Another purpose of me doing these is to go through my polishes.  I must confess that a lot of my collection sits un-worn and un-swatched.   So, I really need to go through them and destash where necessary.  So, I thought this was a great way to do that in a fun way.  (And a slow way since it will be hard to part with any.  Haha!)   I hope to do these at least once a month.  :D

Each time, I'll also pick my favorite of the 7 and my least favorite and tell if I am letting go of any.  Just because.  Why not?

Enough of that!  Let's get to the swatches!

Sephora by OPI - Looks Like Rain, Dear

I originally picked this up at Big Lots for $1.80.

I have been enamoured with this polish since I swatched it on my swatch stick for my a polish haul (post here.)  It was opaque in one medium to thick coat on the stick.  It was like a super glitter hiding in a regular disguise.  Haha!

It did very well on the natural nail as well.  It was opaque in 2 thin to medium coats with no undie.  I absolutely love it.  I just wish I would have picked up another to share.

Revlon ColorStay - Wild Strawberry

I purchased this one at Big Lots for $1.50.

I am completely in love with this one, and it is my favorite pick of this set of 7.  Which is odd, because I don't usually wear pinks like this and hate metallic-like finishes.  But...it's so good!

It seriously went on like a dream.  It was so easy to control the polish, and I never worried that I might flood my cuticle.  It was very smooth, shiny, and opaque in 2 medium coats.  I just couldn't get it out of my head after I swatched it at all.

The only downside of this one that I could see is that it isn't the fastest to dry.  It does take 3 minutes or so between coats.

Covergirl Outlast - Midnight Magic

I originally picked this up at Kroger on clearance for around $1.

I was very surprised with this one, because the first coat went on so sheer and streaky.  It completely transformed on the 2nd coat to what you see above.  I was so happy.

The formula is very nice, but I hate the clunky, square bottle-tops.  It makes it very hard to hold and maneuver.  Other than that, I think it was fabulous and dried quickly between coats.  Next time, I think I am going to try one coat over a dark blue or black.  I think it would look very nice like that as well.

Revlon Top Speed - Cloud

I got this lovely in a friend mail package from one of my amazing subscribers on Youtube.  (Thank you, Rachel!)  These can be found at Dollar Tree, Big Lots, and various places on clearance for around $1 now.

I just love the color of this one!  I am always hesitant with fast dry polishes, because they don't ever seem to agree with my body chemistry.

This one did fine, though.  It was opaque in 3 coats and dried fairly quickly.  It went on pretty well, but it was a little uneven and streaky in a few places.  With a top coat, it completely evens out.  I have worn this one many times, and I get at least 3 days wear time out of it.  That's amazing for a quick dry polish on my nails.

Milani - Lavender
(over Revlon Top Speed Cloud)

I got this in a friend mail package from a great friend of mine: Katie.  (Thank you!)  I believe she found it at the Dollar Tree for $1.

This one was probably the most disappointing of the bunch.

You did get a lot of glitter without fishing in application, but it was only the small glitters as you can see above.  I was lucky to get 5 of the larger pieces per nail after 2 coats.

The base was also a little goopy, and I had to be careful not to flood my cuticle.  It did dry fairly fast, and it had a great and shiny finish.  I had a hard time minimizing my glare to take the shot it was so shiny.

Overall, it was a decent glitter.  Nothing bad about it, but it is the least favorite of mine out of the seven today.

NYC - Rule the City

I picked this up at Kmart a couple months ago for $1.99 or so, and I used a $1 off coupon that was attached to the display.

This is the first NYC polish that I have ever worn or swatched.  Can you believe it?  I have a couple others in my collection, but I just haven't gotten to them yet.  They are also really hard to find in my area.

This polish was great, and it was completely opaque in 2 coats.  I went on smoothly, dried very fast, and didn't have any streakiness.  I have a couple others from this same collection that I am going to have to break out soon, because this was just fabulous.

LA Colors Color Craze - Candy Sprinkles

I picked this one up last summer for $1 at the Dollar Tree after seeing it on one of the youtuber's channels that I watch (ChaChaCakes.)

I am really surprised at this one! It was great.  It went on pretty well, especially for a glitter of this type.  It also dried really fast.  I didn't have to fish at all for any glitter.  It was just smooth sailing, easy peasy, and well...you get the idea.

The only cons I would say is that the formula may seem thick to some people, and the brush handle is really short.  I am not a fan of the bottle tops and brushes of these polishes, anyway, and it can make it hard to manipulate the polish to go where and how you want it.

Overall I am very pleased with it, and I'll probably be sporting this quite a bit in the spring this year.

Thoughts on this Set:

Least Favorite:

I think that all of these polishes are pretty good.  There is no clear dud.  None are unwearable.  If I had to pick one, I would say the Milani Lavender glitter.  I say that mainly because I have much better glitters on my collection.  So, I wouldn't be that sad to see it go.  I'm going to place it in my maybe pile.

I am still surprised that I liked the Revlon ColorStay in Wild Strawberry the best.  I just couldn't get it out of my head for a long time after I swatched it.  It just made me so dang happy to look at it.  The formula was just amazing as well.  Eeee!

Thank y'all so much for reading!  I hope you enjoyed this first installment into more swatching to come from yours truly.  Love and great polish bargain finds to all.  <3

Video With Live Swatches!

Again, thank you everyone for indulging me in my nail nerdiness!  :D

Dollar Tree Haul (With Reviews): New Solar Dancers, Yarn, and More

Friday, March 13, 2015

What can I say?  When I am near a Dollar Tree, I can't help but go in it.  Hauls happen to the best of us.

Video of this haul will also be up on my Youtube Channel (Spake With Twang) at Noon EST today.

LA's Totally Awesome Fabric Refresher - Fresh Lavender Fields

I decided to pick this one up after the Crisp Linen one was pretty much a bust.  This one did perform much better.  Was it as good as Febreze?  No, not by any stretch of even the largest imagination.

The scent was pleasant, but it was not like a natural lavender that you would get with blossoms or essential oils.  It is more like a powdery artificial fragrance oil scent.  It was very nice, but it didn't last very long after I sprayed it.  I used a ton of it on my mattress before putting my new linen on, and it was gone in about 2-3 minutes.  I couldn't smell it at all.

I still have my eye out for the yellow Extra Strength variety with the sunflower on it.  It's supposed to be really good.  We shall see.  I will still continue to make my own, but I would love for one of these to work well so that I no longer have to.

Home Store Disposable Hot Cups with Lids - 5pk

Let's be real.  These aren't that great of a value compared to finding the larger packs on the name brand ones on sale at the grocery store.

These are great cups, though, and I didn't feel like making an extra trip.  So, thank you Dollar Tree for stocking them!

Spa-Haus Hair Therapy Keratin Oil Conditioner

Oh, this stuff...

The whole hair care line was hyped up so much the moment it started showing up at people's Dollar Trees because of its resemblance to a higher end organic brand.  People were singing its praises and telling stories about how it cured all their lifelong scalp ailments.

Well, to me, it's crap.  It has the texture of runny snot.  It isn't moisturizing at all.  (To be fair, I do have dry hair.)  It smells like a cheap "unscented" conditioner.

You also have to use a ton of it since it is so thin. I had it used up after 4 uses and my hair is only about 4 inches below my shoulders.

I will say that it is better than V05 or White Rain, but it doesn't come close to drug store brands like Herbal Essences, Aussie, Dove, or Garnier.  I would pay an extra dollar to get something decent.

Spa-Haus Moisturizing Tea Tree Mint Shampoo

I had high hopes for this one, because it smells like a fresh, minty paradise in the bottle.  It also has "moisturizing" right there on the front of the bottle.

The texture of it was like jelly.  It wouldn't soak into my hair at all so I could work it in which was odd, because my hair usually soaks up products like crazy.  It had a nice lather once I did get it going, but the scent didn't really translate out of the bottle.

It also made my hair so tangled and feeling like coarse straw which is something very unusual for me.  I also ending up using the entire bottle in 3 goes, because of the texture of the product.  I would never repurchase.  It just did not work for me at all.

Solar Dancers

No one is surprised that I bought these.  No one.

On another note, if you are reading this on the day I published it, they will be releasing 3 new ones today.  Dollar Tree needs to slow down.  Haha!

I hope Dollar Tree will forever continue carrying awesome stickers.  I've been going through them like mad since I started a Youtube channel.

Patons Theo Yarn

I finally found some yarn!  It looks like you took my dog's sheddings and balled it up, but I found some!  It is really soft, and I think it is going to make some great plushie project yarn.

Iberia Plantain Chips

These were delicious!  They weren't too salty.  I would repurchase them again.

Jelly Beans

It's that time of year again.  Don't judge me!  Also, the black jelly beans are my favorite.  I don't care what anyone says.  They are the star of the bag.

Walmart Clearance Haul: $1 Earrings and Super Cheap Shoes

Thursday, March 12, 2015

I again went to Walmart to check to see if they had marked down the Better Homes and Gardens candles from the holidays.  Nope, of course they hadn't.  But....

I did find some other awesome things including some jewelry clearanced down to a buck!  Whoohoo!

Haul video will also be up on my Youtube channel (Spake With Twang) at 12pm EST today.

Truck Seat Covers - on clearance - $21.00

These were originally $36.98.  I wish I could tell you the brand, shade, and such, but my dad took these and put them on just about as soon as we got home.  They were really easy to install, because they didn't have the weird elastics that you have to fasten under the seat.  He's had them in about a week and been loving them.

Tennis Shoes - on clearance - $7.00

These were originally marked $25-$30.  Whoohoo!  I got all men's tennis shoes.  (Curse of the big feet!)  They did have women's and children's as well.

I will say to make sure to try these on before you buy, because they ran small on me.  I had to buy them 2 sizes up from the Reeboks I was wearing in the store.

Earrings - on clearance - $1.00

Most of these were originally $5.00.  Not much to say really.  I was there.  They were there. It was destiny for a costume jewelry earring addict like myself.  Haha!

Also, be sure to price check any you find.  A few of these were marked $3.00, but they still rung up $1.00.  There were a ton of necklaces, bracelets, and other things marked down as well.

It tided me over until I get the itch to order from Shop Miss A again.  :)

Nails of the Day: KleanColor Simply Charcoal

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

This is 2 coats of Simply Charcoal without a top coat under a daylight bulb.  I picked this one up from Shop Miss A for $1.

I have always been curious about Kleancolor polishes, because the reviews are so mixed with them.  Seriously, one of the nail bloggers that I follow sings their praises while another calls them cheap garbage.  Haha!

I have also never tried a metallic matte before, so why not?

The polish went on amazingly well.  I probably could have gotten away with one coat.  It dried very quickly.  Also the smell, which is a source of a lot of complaints, wasn't that bad.  It wasn't near as bad as the Broadways Nails I posted a few weeks ago.

The wear time was crap, though.  It started peeling off the next day.  Total bummer since I loved the chalkboard affect it gave my nails.  Maybe I'll have better luck the next time I wear it with a different base coat.

(On another note, I am still planning on putting the new layout up soon.  It should definitely happen by this coming weekend.  This blog is in need of a face lift.  Thank you for your patience as always.  If you see weird things happening on the page, do not be alarmed.  Haha!)
