Swatch It Out: Random Polishes #16 | Nail Polish Swatches

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

It's time once again for another Swatch It Out.  Oh yeah!

Since this is the second to last episode of the year, I'm doing 10 polishes instead of 7.  Double oh yeah!

If you aren't familiar with this series, I take random nail polishes from my collection and swatch them for y'all.  I also talk about the formula and wear time and whatnot where applicable.  I post this series every other Tuesday on here and on my youtube channel.

Enough of that crap, let's swatch it out!

Sally Hansen - Red My Lips

The picture shows 2 coats without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

I picked this polish up at either CVS on a coupon deal or at Big Lots a few months ago.

This is my favorite red polish in my entire collection.  The formula is great.  So, it works great for nail art and by itself.

Since it is a vibrant red, it can be prone to staining.  Though, it isn't half as bad as other reds I've worn.

Wet n Wild - Breakfast in Tinsel Town

The swatch picture above shows 1 coat over red under a daylight bulb without a top coat.

I picked this polish up awhile back from Walgreen's on clearance with a coupon.

The formula on this one is okay, but it's nothing great.  The glitter sparkles so nice like jewels.  So, I love using it as a topper around holiday time.

Sinful Colors - Sugar Rush

The picture above shows 2 coats without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

I got this one in a Pinch Me box as a free sample, but these are sold at several places for around $2.

The formula on this one is not unmanageable, but it's not the greatest.  I deal with it, because the end result is smooth, even, and the color is very vibrant.

I also get really great wear from this one.  I usually get at least a week.

Maybelline - Precious Pearl

The picture shows 1 coat over a light blue without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

I bought this polish at Walmart on clearance awhile back.

The formula on this one is not that great.  You also have to fish for glitters a bit, because they tend to quickly sink to the bottom.

I love the look it gives, though.  It reminds me of snow flakes or paint splatter.

Revlon - Posh

The picture shows 2 coats without a top coat under a daylight bulb.

The formula of this one is pretty terrible.  It's really runny and hard to manage.  It also took forever to dry between coats.  It also must be extremely prone to staining as I had to scrub it off my nails even though I only had it on for a few minutes.

It's surprising to me as I usually have really good luck with Revlon.

Sinful Colors - Decadent

The picture shows 1 coat over green under a daylight bulb without a top coat.

I picked this one up at either Walgreens or Big Lots.

The base on this one is really runny, and there is a lot a base compared to the amount of glitter.  It's okay for the price, but there are a lot of red glitter polishes that are better out there.

Sinful Colors - Smokin

The picture shows 2 coats under a daylight bulb without a top coat.  It is also slightly cooler toned in the swatch picture than how it looks in person.  It also dries about 2 shades darker than what it looks like in the bottle.

The formula on this one is decent but nothing to dance about.  I almost got away with one coat.  I am biased toward gray polish, because I just love them.

Wet n Wild - It's a Winterful Life

The swatch picture above shows 1 coat over dark gray under a daylight bulb without a top coat.

I picked this polish up awhile back from Walgreens on clearance.

This one has a great formula, and it doesn't require any fishing to get good glitter pay off.  I prefer to wear this one as a topper, but it does get opaque in about 3-4 coats.

Milani - Deep Thoughts

The picture above shows 1 coat under a daylight bulb without a top coat.

I got this polish in an awesome friend mail, but these are usually found at Dollar Tree.

The formula on this one is great!  I was shocked as most of the other polishes from this line are really runny and hard to manage.  This one also has this gorgeous glittery flash in it that shows more on the nail than it does in the bottle.

I love it when I'm pleasantly surprised while swatching.  I danced a little.

LA Colors - Dizzy

The picture above shows 1 coat over dark purple under a daylight bulb without a top coat.

I picked this one up at Dollar Tree for $1.

The formula is awesome!  This is honestly one of the best straight up gold glitters in my collection.  The base is a great consistency, and it dries fast.

I will probably use half the bottle this holiday season.  Oh yes!

Final Thoughts:

Winner(s):  Red My Lips, Deep Thoughts, Dizzy

They had great formulas, and that tickles my fancy.

To Be Retired: Posh

I am sorely lacking in green polishes, but I know I won't wear it.  I just can't be bothered with bad formulas unless it's a really unique polish.  It will serve me well as a craft paint.
